Wynne and Adam Update

We're not Twilight fans, so I am surprised that we decided to enroll Wynne in vampire day care.  Well, we didn't know it was vampire day care in all fairness.  Wynne's been attending 8A-12P for three days a week for a month now, and generally she's enjoying it.  It's just that one of the undead toddlers there, if you know your pig latin let's call him “Ryefay”, has bitten her twice in two weeks.

Not just her though.  Apparently, Ryefay has a taste for all his classmates and he bites in order to extract their blood.  Did I say blood?...I meant toys.  If he wants the toy you're playing with, you become his own personal happy meal.  The teachers said the first time they were caught unaware.  The second time they said they'd "only turned their back for a moment" when "the accident" occurred.  Yes, it worried me too that they decided they needed to pay constant attention to him and he still struck in the available two seconds.  Both Wynne's bites were minor, no breaking the skin just teeth scrape marks in a vaguely mini-great white type shape.

It hardly fazes Wynne, but it still pissed me off.  After discussing at length the head teacher, we're satisfied but watching for repeats.  They are disciplining Ryefay at school and apparently so are mommy and daddy vamp at home.  We hesitate to jump ship here, not knowing what to expect from the next school and whether we are being hyper sensitive.

Adam is doing well though struggling with a minor cold at the moment.  He’s become quite the climber; his favorite activity seems to be standing on furniture and bouncing. Lately we’ve been trying to emphasize language as he’s progressed so quickly physically that we want him to catch up verbally.  He does his “Da’s, Ba’s, Ma’s, and Pa’s” but were not sure if he’s speaking to us in context yet.  I imagine though that speaking is imminent.  His newest achievement, which never fails to produce a wide grin, is standing.  He balances with a slight wobble, like someone on a surfboard and loves every moment.  If Erin or I are next to him, he will then fall forward into our arms in a dive motion.  We’re urging him to make that a step in our direction, and expect he will do that soon to.  In the meantime we’re just really enjoying our Mr. Man and we’re a bit wistful about the fact that he’s got just two months of babyhood left.

In other news, the only step left for the house is painting, and we just received two quotes to that effect.  We'd chosen maybe 10 colors throughout the house, and every wall was to be painted- changing this snow white neutral to a beige style.  However, the quotes are so expensive one wonders if they are using White House contractors.  More likely though they see we are expats and are just trying to rip us off.  So that's on hold until we find a reasonable painter.  I will be taking some "finished" house pics anyway soon so if you want to see colors you'll just have to come visit us :-)
