Help! Kasie where are you?

Help! We need to buy new bedroom furniture- we need a bedroom set, but we're having waaaay more difficulty finding quality dressers we like. We spent Saturday furniture shopping and it was miserable. I need ideas of where to shop.  We're not veneer fans (or at least cheap looking veneer which is all we seemed to find on Saturday) or mission style (or other "southwestern" looking big bulky furniture). Ikea struck out too, like potterybarn and cost plus world market. Had luck at JC Penny for other furniture but we're not too keen on their dressers.  Ethan Allen is too pricey. Crate and Barrel is too modern for me. Even if you know somewhere to shop in Houston... we just want something solid and not southwest-y.

PS- Our friend Kasie seems to be a wealth of shopping information so I'm hoping she can inspire me!
